There is some potentially upsetting news for Skyrim fans everywhere this week as a result of this most recent rumor and development.
Wedbush Morgan Securities 
analyst Michael Pachter said in an a recent interview with CVG that he believes that Elder Scrolls V : Skyrim is one of two game titles that may say a release date push back to February 2012.
Beat the crowds and get Diablo(R) III before anyone else.
Pachter stated, “The only ones that have any risk are Skyrim and Saint’s Row. The former because Bethesda will launch when it’s ready, and it won’t hurt the game to move into February; the latter a very low probability, since it looks close to complete, and because THQ needs it in the holiday quarter, but given reviews on Homefront, they may choose to delay for more polish.”"
Analysts like Pachter believe that because there are so many high profile titles being released in the November time frame, that Bethesda would have nothing to lose by pushing back the release date three months for a polished release and a less competitive market.
Other fourth quarter 2012 titles include Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary, Need for Speed: The Run, Uncharted 3, Modern Warfare 3, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, , Saints Row, Diablo 3, and Guild Wars II.

I will only wait for Skyrim, the other titles do not intest me in the least, I will be really upset if I have to wait anouter 3 mounths for this game, The elder scrolls only come out every 5 years, and the wait is killer. pluss poor bethesda really were set on 11/11/11, I mean it’s not like any of the other titles can really compare.

Normally I would consider myself a Call of Duty fan and I was all on for MW3 but after looking at the graphics and the detail and the work put into Skyrim I have decided to get it before MW3. If Skyrim was to be delayed it would be a shame. It looks fantastic and in truth Im sick of games constantly changing there dates I didn’t buy Gears of war 3 as a result and I know alot of people have simular feels so I ask you Not to change the date you really dont need to
I play alot of games, always rent shooters before you buy. Online play is where those were at. Black ops was disappointing. What was more dissappointing,Fallout New Vegas! I have made a habit of pre-ordering Bethesda games due to polished work. Since Daggerfall Demo on that was (Betony?) on that island, I have been hooked. If you can put it out, then do so. But if its gonna hang all the time, go through multiple patches and still never work 100% (FNV) then push it back. I killed my first 360 on oblivion alone. (475 hrs 3 Characters, only game I have all the achievements on, with and without DLC.) Gamestop has had my money for this game since april or may, so I really want it bad. But DO NOT release anything broke or I will donkey punch you in your blow hole.
P.S. I know FNV isn’t your fault, but in the future, you should pull a nintendo and run your own quality any time you sell/rent whatever with your licenses/engines, or just anything that has your name on it.
I’m extremely excited for this game and I would be crushed if I had to wait until February. I’m already tense with the thought of having to wait until November, the prospect of it being any further away is distressing to me. I kind of wish I had terminal cancer so I could get the Make A Wish Foundation to grab me a copy sooner.

Yes Justin, but if you HAD terminal Cancer maybe you couldnt even finish the game, since it takes a lot of time to complete.

While I am very interested in nearly all other 4th quarter release, Skyrim is on the top of the list…then again on the plus side, if it was delayed that’ll mean we get a much more polished game. Also I do want Bethesda to do well financially and releasing it with so many other heavyweights may not be the way to go.
I may have just started the elderscrolls with Oblivion but I have been waiting for skyrim ever since then. years of random google searching in hopes of fineding a shread of of information on elderscrolls V and when it was anounced I fliped… I preorderd my copie and now im waitng for the collectors edition… if it gets pushed back sure i would be upset but i tink some touchups will be worth it and no way in hell will I buy any other game this year. games like halo and saints row are not worth my time but Ill shut my self in the house for months on end for skyrim…Ill wait for skyrim
I don’t believe it will matter what we say here, if Bethesda feels that they will make a better game, as well as make more money if they release it later, they will do it.
I think pushing back the release date to February would be a smart choice not only for marketing purposes but i wouldnt want the game to come out too early and not be polished and have glitches. More the wait, better the final resulting product.

It’s total bullcrap to think that those extra three months are going to bump the polishing up a bit and make a better game. Hell, let’s ask Bethesda to hold off until 12 12 12 and have a really polished game…
It’s already been five years, folks and they should hold firm to what they promised. Besides, this is pure speculation anyway.
True. But they’ve been makeing Games like Fallout series. The Extra quests that could be considered a whole new game. Brink (Which isn’t their best..I know..). They’ve been keeping themselves busy for the past 5 years. Least I think.
Postponing it won’t allow for much polishing to be done with such a large scale game. Elder Scrolls have a larger fan-base over Call of Duty, which has gome down hill since Black-Ops. Halo is in the dumps due to the creation of too many games. With the exception of 14 year old kids who enjoy making fun of eachother on live, Skyrim should theorhetically outsell all others. It should be released the originally published date. Besides, live updates can polish anything that needs polishing after the release date.

its funny because at this time last year i was waiting for fable 3 on pc and it took until may, if this is gonna be the case for skyrim and its not more impressive than wat its gonna be now imma be really pissed, also will wait as said before only for skyrim
This is pure speculation – they’d have ‘nothing to lose’ by pushing back the release date…? And he thinks that because Bethesda will ‘launch when they’re ready’? So on 11.11.11, a good memorable date that’s great for Beth’s marketing and that was set almost a year ago, slap bang in between student loan payouts and the Christmas spending period, and after having worked on this game for 5 years, they won’t be ready? Yeah right.
I’m all for Skyrim being as good as it can be, but it seems Beth have been pretty confident about this release date for a while.
Pachter is an idiot. It’ll be out on 11/11/11 on time. If you keep up with the news on Skyrim everything is going as planned. So don’t worry. Any bugs can be fixed with a patch.

im only 12 years old, but im not gonna fret over the delay if it happens because i know that when skyrim is released its gonna be awesome because its bethesda guys. Because I always believe people who don’t even work for the company commenting about what they think the company is going to do.
Seriously, websites need to stop using people like this as sources for news. This guy doesn’t work for Bethesda, and his opinion is only as valid as everyone else’s. I could say that I’m speculating that Christmas is going to be moved up earlier this year, to November 25th, in order to allow for less time between big name releases in the video game world so that a shopping frenzy ensues. That opinion is just as valid as this guy’s.
Meh, bit of a rant, but I really hate it when news sites take the word of an analyst who doesn’t even work for the company that he is commenting on. Sure, he’s an analyst and is getting paid to..well..analyze, but when news sites take analyst’s word as the truth and don’t mention in the article that it is just speculation, it ticks me off a bit.
