New Skyrim news is pouring in like water in a flood. If you’ve been wondering if you would see Falmer in Skyrim, sources have confirmed that you will definitely see Falmer whilst your traveling the word of Tamriel.
A PAX journalist issued this news in a report during another hands on demo session and had this to say about it:
“As the fight moves on we face Falmer, “twisted, evil creatures that dwell in Skyrim’s deepest reaches” and which basically look like goblins wearing spider’s faces as helmets, we move more into melee.”
This might come as a frusturation for some die hard Elder Scrolls fans who have always considered Falmer to be a difficult to find and impressive race. Unfortunately, it sounds like Falmer would only be another generic goblin-model sort of sword fodder.
This is definitely not what fans wanted to hear regarding the mysterious race.
If we are lucky, we’ll come to find out some new lore surrounding the fabled Falmer race and some deep and interested story lines full of intricate artifacts, ruins, dungeons, books, and more.
What are your thoughts? Do you have delusions of grandeur about the Falmer race? Or are you OK if they aren’t at all important?

Skyrim has a set release date of 11/11/11.

nope.. dont care in the sligtest.. never even heard of them
I’m not too sure about the falmer being twisted and evil, in previous lore they are clearly more sophisticated than this. However, there could be a lore reason as to why they’ve suddenly transformed into an evil race.
Also UESP wiki generally has better info than the other elder scrolls wikis:

I wish they would have kept them the way they were. Turning a race such as the Falmer into goblins? Yeah, the gods of Oblivion turned some mer into Orcs, but they still retain the appearance of mer to an extent. Shrinking them down and goblinizing them? Come on Bethesda. All I can say, It better be a damn good reason why they have been changed into what they have become.
